Sodi Cookey at the Southbank Centre

Sodi Cookey gave a magnificent performance at the Royal Festival Hall, Clore Ballroom as part of the Southbank Centre’s Planet Summer programme. Produced by the team at Creative Resilience International, the programme included an art installation by sculptor Gary March, Rasaq and Caroline Reid; a town hall session; workshops by Anita Quansah and Caroline Mosyemi Up and finally the catwalk showcase. The accompaniment of 5 songs, Cookey was backed by Michael Searle on bass and Mimi Yoshimaya on the grand piano. The performance also featured the poet Pelumi who brought a lovely contrast to Cookey’s vocals. Watch the video below
